NOTICE
VISA APPLICATIONS SCHEDULE

The general public is hereby informed that with effect from 4th May 2017, the appended schedule for Visa submission and collection will be followed:-

Applicants are requested to submit their visa applications on the dates stated above. Applicants are further requested to check with the Consular officer of the Malawi High Commission in New Delhi on the status of their visa application on the following day after submission of application. Please note that requisite fees are only payable after approval is granted.

In case of any of the submission or collection of visa day stipulated above falling on a holiday, the next working day will be the day for submission/collection of visa.

In order to allow for adequate time for visa processing, it is advisable that all visa applications are submitted one week, prior to travelling.

(A) VISA APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

1- Invitation Letter from sponsor in Malawi

2- Covering Letter from applicant / company etc.

3- Itinerary & Air Tickets

4- Bank Statements for the last 3 months

5- Hotel Booking

6- Valid Passport for not less than 6 months

7- Two (2) recent passport size photographs

8- Other evidence of sufficient funds

9- Photocopies of Applicant’s Passport

(B) VISA FEES EFFECTIVE FROM 01/10/2011

The general public is hereby informed that the visa fees to Malawi have been revised by the Government. The revised visa fees were effective from 1st October 2011 as under:

a- Single Entry Visa - $150.00

b- Multiple Entry Visa (6 months) - $250.00

c- Multiple Entry Visa (12 months) - $300.00

d- Transit Visa - $75.00

Visa certificate letter upto 30 days - $30.00 (valid for thirty days. The certification are issued when visa sticker are out of stock.)

e- Both visa stickers and visa letters CAN ONLY BE OBTAINED AT THE MALAWI HIGH COMMISSION IN DELHI

Note:- Visa certificate letters are issued on condition that prerequisite fees for visa stickers will be paid upon arrival in Malawi.

(C) VISA PROCESSING DURATION

a- Processing period - within three days.

b- Application Submission Time: 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.; Monday and Wednesday

c- Visa Fees Deposit Time: 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.; Monday and Wednesday

NOTE:- All persons who have legitimate reasons to apply for visas in person or on behalf of others, should ensure that they are conversant with all visa requirements and should be capable of answering relevant questions regarding their applications at the Malawi Embassy.

Any visitor to Malawi should remember to carry his/her yellow fever vaccination card.

(D) REVISED FEES FOR VARIOUS IMMIGRATION SERVICES

1- Temporary Resident Permit - USD $ 200.00 (Validity of T.R.P. is six (6) months from the expiry of 90 days on
    tourist visit in Malawi.)

Note:- A tourist will in this regard be required to continuously be in the country for the whole 90 days before applying for a Temporary Residence Permit.

2- Business Residence Permit - USD $ 3,300.00

3- Temporary Employment Permit / Work Permit- USD $ 400.00

4- Extension of Tourist Permit - USD $ 33.00

5- Restoration of Malawi Citizenship - USD $ 1,320.00

6- Renunciation of Malawi Citizenship - USD $ 70.00

7- Emergency Certificate - USD $ 20.00

(E) Nations whose Nationals Don’t Need Visa When Coming to Malawi

Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belgium, Belize, Botswana, Brunei, Britain, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Dominica, Fiji, Finland, France, Gambia, Germany Grenada, Guyana, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jamaica, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Malaysia, Maldives Island, Malta, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nauru, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Northern Ireland, Papua New Guinea, Portugal, Samoa (Western), Seychelles, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Solomon Island, St. Kitts Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and The Grenadines, Swaziland, Sweden, San Marino, Spain, Tanzania, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, China (ROC), Taipei, Uganda, United States of America, Zambia, Zimbabwe

PRESS RELEASE UPDATE ON VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR MALAWI

The Malawi Immigration Department would like to inform those intending to travel to Malawi, the Airlines, and all Stakeholders that with effect from 9th September 2016, Entry Visa issuance will be implemented in three-fold as approved by the Malawi Government.

b. Nationals from Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) countries, except for those countries that subject Malawians to visa within COMESA;

c. Names of the countries that do not require an Entry Visa to Malawi:

The visitor is issued with a maximum of 30 days Visitor's Permit on the port of entry which can be extended up to a maximum of 90 days. Therefore, please take a note that a visa is just an authority to enter, whereas the visitor's permit determines the visitor's duration of stay.

New Malawi Passport Deadline
This is to remind Malawi nationals in India that the deadline for Malawians to replace their passports with a new one will expire on 31 July 2011. All Malawi nationals who have not yet submitted their passports for renewal and are residing in India are requested to contact the Consular Department of the Malawi High Commission in New Delhi as soon as possible. Once the application for a new passport is submitted, the Consular Department will take finger prints of the applicant. The applicant will be required to fill forms and pay requisite fees. This information will be couriered to Immigration Department in Malawi where a new passport will be processed. After processing the new passport will be issued and sent to the applicant in India through the Malawi High Commission.
